The hydrochemical distributions as illustrated by bicarbonates in the Triassic Sandstone aquifer of NW Lancashire are discussed and related to glacial sand distribution in the overlying drift deposits. Recharge through the sands is inferred from the hydrochemistry as being one of the most important recharge mechanisms influencing the aquifer. Hydrochemical inference is also used to discuss the possible groundwater flow conditions in the north of the area.
