We thank Mr Jones and Dr Beeson for their comments. The variation in electrical conductance between pore water and fissure water would have to be large to account for the observed variations in ground conductivity. Similarly for the variations between lithostratigraphic units. There is no evidence to suggest that this is the case at Lulworth.
